Default Steelhead and a Brown Trout 12/04/13

Hey guys, just thought you might enjoy looking at a few photos of fish my friend and I caught today. I know it's not Alaska, but instead the Salmon River in Upstate New York. Flurries in the morning and then 47* and sunshine by mid-afternoon. That's my friend Don with a fat female brown full of eggs and me with a steelhead, both landed by 8:45 this morning. Don landed another steelie, and hooked 3 more. All in all, well worth the 4 hour drive!

Wow. That steelhead is beautiful but that brownie is insane. Those are my old stomping grounds - I vaguely remember what it was like to have water be wet in December.

1/2 mile up in the lower end of the Douglaston Salmon Run. Not a lot of people in the Run, which measures approximately 2-1/2 of private water, but everyone we saw was into fish. I guess we all got lucky.

As beautiful as those fish are, they don't belong in this thread. If the forum cops get uneasy when someone post a photo from another state in the outdoor photography forum, how is this possible?

    Michael Strahan, please police this.

    Once again, awesome fish!

Nice fish Ron !! i used to love fishing there in the middle of winter, never fished that low in the river always up by the church pool. Have a great Christmas and a safe Happy New Year.

Thanks Steve, and the same to you and the little lady! Hoping to get back up this April to do some work on da boat and maybe get tight to a steelie or two. Going to the NYC boat show for kicks just to see how the other side spends their money!
    Stay safe and well, Rob

That brown is beautiful. I grew up in Bridgeport, sure miss it. Alaska is much better though.
