Thread: Too early for snowmachines?

    Default Too early for snowmachines?

I'm new to the ice fishing scene this year and looking to get out over the long thanksgiving weekend, hopefully with the snowmachines. Is there any lakes around either north or south of Anchorage that would have thick enough ice? If not, I'm good with walking out...I just need to catch something!

I live on DeLong lake in town and the ice is about 10", just curious if F&G or somebody else records thicknesses online somewhere that I havent been able to find. And to answer the obvious question as to why I dont just go out there and fish, well I think I've caught every fish in that lake 5 times over and I want some pike and/or lake trout!
