    Default One more stupid ELECTRICAL question 2/0 Type 2

    I have some 2 AWG three wire and it say's Type 2 I am hoping type 2 means direct bury. "What does the type 2 part mean".....???

    You need wire with a USE rating for direct burial. underground service entrance

    If it is direct bury rated cable, then it will be marked with a series of letters. Something like XHHW or THHW. You can google that code and find out if it is ok to bury.
    If there is nothing like that, I would bet it isn't rated for being buried. For XHHW-2, the 2 is only a temperature rating.

    Refer to NFPA 70 (National Electric Code) all sorts of goodies on direct burial, ampacities, etc. PM me for a decent electrical forum that I've had good results using
