    Default Sitka Blacktail 2013

It's time for the rut. Post your trips and success photos. I'll start. I called in a doe with this guy hot on her heels. One arrow 32 yds.IMG_2060.jpg

    Nice buck. Which island.
Do I give my friends advice? Jesus, no. They wouldn't take advice from me. Nobody should take advice from me. I haven't got a clue about anything..

Great Buck! Looks like perfect shot placement too. Well done. Hoping to get the bow out in the woods in the next weekend or so.

Very nice, congrats! I'm headed down to POW on the 16th. Do you think calling will still be effective then?

Nice buck POWMAK as per usual. This is starting out to be a good 'rut' hunt.

Yes Jerod the hunting will be good till early Dec. The call will be effective off and on.

Jerry, I have a friend that homesteaded on POW at Thorne Bay and he always hunted mid November to early December. I went down there ove a Thanksgiving time...and yes, calling is used at that time. Kurt preferred doe bleats at that time. Good luck, hope you get deer...oh Kurt only hunted with a bow too :-)

get a call that is a little higher pitched than you think is rifght..

I used a bite tube call that was "susposed to be doe/fawn" and did calls in series of two.. three... NO Call
however if calling in does... the steady whaaa, whaaaaa, whaaa gets them in fast

the elk squeller type with a rubber band works.. but you have to pracvtice,,, and nothing like being able to practice while watching deer..

    Chris

    notice call around neck?
