I guess you'd probably want some longer poles for that.

Is it a Halibut "tail-er"? I could see using something like that to help lift or control a halibut...maybe...

I like the tailer idea, but I think it's an apparatus to help dehook halibut....still thinkin exactly how it would work but that's my guess nonetheless

    er...umm....er....well ok,,,,,YES!! we have a winner!!

Here in BC Canada, more halibut regs were thrown at us this year!...instead of one a day/two possession, we now have a 6 yearly limit!..and part of that
is a possession limit of two, which can consist of 2 small or one small and one big--up to 126 cm in length!...anything bigger than that must be released!( 55lber?? approx)....small one is 86? cm or less!

so, since the sides of the "pez gordo" are quite high(my choice) I needed something to reach down and measure the halli!...the piece of duct tape you see on the string is for the small one!

so, anyway--congrats laker taker!!...your pack of caribou(pre rut) is awaiting here for your pick up!!....dont wait too long, the meat is awesome!!!....thanks for playing guys!! larry

    edit!

here is a halli at 76 lbs(male) caught last year!...at least I got a chance to use my harpoon!!....

Rudy; DO NOT TRY THIS!!! they used to make wire tailers, worked great for Ninny kings, thought the same thing myself, lets use it halibut. 1st time i tried it on about a 40# fish, i ended up with a black eye and a cut on my nose! basically beat the s*&T out of me. you would be out of that yak before you knew what was happening!
