    Default Tainted Grouse?

I shot a grouse this morning and when I fillet the breast I noticed this white patch in the meat. There were multiple areas like this through out both breast. I also pulled old feathers out of the breast like you would have when dispatched with a shotgun. I took this grouse with a 17hmr, so I know it wasn't me. Could this be lead poisoning from a bird that was just wounded. Thanks for the help.

I shot a grouse a few years back with an old pellet gun pellet stuck in the breast
It didn't look like your picture though.
I have never seen one like that before

If you didn't find the lead then I doubt it. But seeing that you did find feathers in the spot, I wouldn't doubt the bird struck a branch or something that poked the feathers into the meat. Also, if it was lead poisoning I would think either the whole bird, or that particular area would smell pretty bad. I've smelled ducks that were dying from lead poison and they were pretty rank....

I would definitely show that picture to adfg or turn the bird over to them for study.

I'm going to guess it's an infection rather than lead poisoning.
