    Default Interior bull, boar combo

I had a great hunt this year! In the field for a week starting on Sep 15th and got a record sized interior griz and a nice 44" bull to fill the freezer. All our gear performed flawlessly and we came away with some great stories.

Tracked this 8'11" griz in fresh snow after 3 days of competing with him on our moose hunt. Skull is over 27" after we damaged the back off it with the chainsaw while skinning. I followed his fresh tracks through a burn area for an hour before catching up to him, or should I say he stopped to see who was following him. He ran before I could get a shot straight toward my partner who dropped him at about 20 yards in a full run.

Awesome. The bear looks so much more blonde in your original post...is that just a lighting deal?

We had him skinned all the way to the head and were cutting off the head with a chainsaw to finish it at camp.

Here are a few more pictures. It did not take much skill to track him in the fresh snow, but I was more than a little nervous when he headed into the trees.

I have some more video and pictures that I'm going to edit together when I get some time. I also have my gps track that clearly shows the bear doubling back around to see what was following him. It was definitely a rush to follow the fresh tracks in the new snow, but after seeing the size of the bear I'm not sure I would do it again.

Awesome hunt. Carry a hand saw. Is the skull damaged enough you won't get to have it scored? Looking forward to more pics and write up!

Lol@chainsaw!!! Probably less work to just find the joint with a knife.
Congrats on a great bear! Trailing fresh tracks is a rush for sure, done it a few times and its wayyy exciting!! Bigger bears are easier to find when you get into the trees or brush with them and present a larger target. I'd take a big bear in a sticky situation over a little/young bear anyday!!

I finally downloaded my Garmin. Here is the track from the bear hunt. You can see where the bear crossed our tracks from the morning and how he doubled back around when he noticed I was following him. It was 300 yards from where I spotted the bear to where my partner shot him on the survey line. Official score was 27 6/16ths.
