What are people thoughts and opinions on a 225 fourstroke yamaha far as fuel consumption longevity. And performance.

Do some digging. I've heard that they have some corrosion issues. That, and it's a decade old. How many hours?

The 225 dynos at 208HP, they have had some corrosion issues so you need to check that [ pull the cowl and look it all over] I would rather step up to the 250 if you can.
For the most part they have been a good reliable motor.

You are getting up there in hours. Regular maintenance got it that far, but it could have catastrophic failure at any time. Do you know if it's burning oil yet? What boat/price? I couldn't pay more than 3-4k for that engine. Make your offer accordingly.
