Default Moose and bear stuff... Some more

To date the moose harvest in 15 is 115 animals, 26 were illegal. The biggest "short" bull was 45", most were around 36". Certainly doesn't seem like hard-to-judge-honest-mistakes.
7 of the illegals were forks.
So far 54 bears taken including DLP's

Just call your local regional bio for unit seven And ask 'em what you want to know. They should be more than willing to give you the statistics.
I did post some information on unit seven Brown bear harvest in the brown bear harvest thread, but it got buried way down the page.

There is no quota in the state regulations, but the Refuge may close hunting at some point.

If I was a Kenai Moose hunter............I'd be very happy with 54 bears and hope for more!

Not in the regs, but when you get your RB300 tag, it says 70 is the quota and to call the number to see if there is an EO before hunting. The bio will be the same for Unit 7 as 15 would be my guess. Soldotna is unit 7 for sure, and Jeff Selinger is a cool dude, I beleive he would be the bear bio. Crazy numbers on illegal moose!

Yeah those moose numbers speak poorly for hunters, darnit.

Maybe harvesting a sublegal (especially a way sub) could include penalties that involve long community service work to educate their peers on how to hunt more ethically?
