    This must be common up there. It didn't even make their paper. At least, I couldn't find it.

    No, it made the News-Miner this morning. There was also that woman down in Juneau a few years ago who punched a black bear in the nose when it grabbed her wiener dog. Bear dropped the dog. I think bear-punching is an Alaska-wide thing.

    Smitty I think Iíll stick with my gun on a leash . . . The wife might take a dim view of getting smacked with brass knuckles when I roll over to get off that dang rock thatís always on my side of the tent.

    I'd reccomend a Tommy Hawk, BUT they would most likely be made illegal, because of the greater chance of wounding the bear.

    The Athabaskans killed them with axes, but those are not yet regulated as to weight, length of handle, etc.

    Heard of one other bear fight....that did not work out so well for the bear either.
