Works well on grouse, ptarmigan, and spruce hens.....not so good on Eagles though.

Do you know what the smallest bird is that this works on?

I just plunge my thumb into the cavity below the breast, rip the breast up towards the wings and once the cavity is open, I take a pair of garden snips and lop off the wings. Done.

Similar. Peel it back like you would a frog leg and again, snip snip.

I have found that it only works about 50% of the time on grouse. I think the birds have to be real warm to work. I pull about half the legs off.

if you go slow and steady the leg pull/feet on wings works 99% of the time.

like my step-son found out- you can't (be a) jerk

have done it on quial, doves, pheasant, chukers, grouse, geese,... haven't tried eagles yet.

won't admit if works on owls.... their legs are too meatie and tastie not to dress whole bird out!

Hold higher up on the legs close to the body. If you hold the feet they don't come part right.
