    Default Cooper Landing Camping?`

Looking at the booking dates for Quartz Creek, it's a "x" after the 2nd of Sept. That mean it's closed for the season then I take it? Lookng for places to stay for Sept and loved being up at Quartz last fall. I take it the loops will still be open outside the gate?

The Palooza crowd has traditionally camped in the Rainbow loop of the Russian River Campground.

Websites may not be much use as the campgrounds are officially closed by mid Sept as I recall. But the guys leave some open as a courteously. No services. No fees. I was impressed that they did that. A few years we paid for a few days then camping was free. Seems bear issues ran Drifter off last year when they banned all tent and pop up campers due to bear activity. Otherwise I am sure he would have been at the Rainbow loop.

Ya, I showed up last year right after the bears ran him out and we ended up at Quartz. Liked it up there on the lake.

All Chugach National Forest campgrounds "officially" close the day after Labor Day (Sept 3). The ones with gates will be locked up. The ones without are still usable, but they will no longer be maintaining them and outhouses and such may be locked up. Even if the campground is accessible, (such as the front loop at Quartz Creek) they do not take reservations after Labor Day, so it is first come, first served.

I was at Quartz Creek Campground last Wed-Fri. They just received a new campground host and yes the reservation system is closed for the season. I failed to ask the fellow when they would lock up for the season. Quartz was off the hook, so to speak. Ran but water was clear enough and few people. I remember the quartz of 25 years ago~
