We are looking for a few volunteers to help finish constructing an ATV trail at the Cottonwood Creek access site to the Palmer Hay Flats State Game Refuge, off Hayfield Road in Wasilla. A crew of volunteers recently constructed 300 feet of Geoblock trail and we have 120 feet remaining. The work is not strenuous or technical and will require us to attach the Geoblock panels to create a hardened surface for ATV traffic.
When: Thursday August 29, 2013 at 10:00am
Where: Cottonwood Creek access, Palmer Hay Flats State Game Refuge, Wasilla: from the Parks Highway take Knik-Goose Bay Road approx 4 miles to Fairview Loop Road (turn left); after approx 2 miles veer right onto Hayfield Road; travel approx 1.25 miles and turn left on gravel access road. Follow access road to end at parking lot. There are “Palmer Hay Flats Refuge - Cottonwood Creek” signs at each of the turns.
What to bring: cordless drill if you have it, work gloves, rubber knee boots (i.e. Xtra tuffs)
