    Default I/O 5.0L guru's need a little help ?

ok have a volvo 5.0 it runs fine but the last couple of times after run a long ways and coming in to the habor. when pulling up to the dock on a low idle it will die. also when I run it at home to flush it out and it is warmed up the rpm's will go up and down 200 rpm's with out any adjustment from the throttle.

Is the a fuel pump problem or something else ?

the motor has just over 1000hrs on it now .

I have a volvo 5.7 that had/has the same symptoms. Give it a good compression check. Turned out mine had two cylinders low on compression. Runs pretty well up until the docking phase, like yours...hopefully you have a better result than I did. I will be replacing the motor once things slow down this winter....

Roger that. I had a very similar issue with a 5.7 with fuel injection (Mercruiser), when I would shift into neuteral, it would diesel a couple seconds, then die. Didn't happen everytime, but usually at the most inoppotune time, like coming into the dock. It turned out to be a fuel delivery issue.

I doubt its a filter issue. My experience has been that if a filter needs changed, due to clogged by gunk/water/whatever, upper end performance suffers but lower end perfomance is unaffected.
