We went down that way on Thursday, and launched at noon. Headed out to our shrimp drop area and before we could get there, we ran in to a sow with 2 cubs on the hill side, watched them for a while, thinking this is cool, barely out and see our first bears. We rounded the cut, about 500 yards down and saw another bear, I took my buddy to the beach and he did a stock with no luck. Back to the boat, we rounded the corner to the next cut and WOW another bear. This one was near the top of a nice snow slide and a clear shot right from the beach. Well with that said he scored his first Blackie. Easy hike to him and slid him down to the beach whole. Some skinning, and meat gathering done, we were off to the shrimp pot drop. NIce bear about 5' 8" and no rubs at all, beatiful hide and very rich black. We finally dropped the pots around 6 pm. What a great day. We saw 4 other bears while we were on the way to the pot drop. Friday we went cruzing around and saw 15 bears total. Sat. and Sun. we saw another 6-8 each day. About 300 shrimp and 1 Blackie, made for a very fine weeked outing. Great Water and sunny skies. Some pretty steep country and very brushy and thorny though.
