    I wonder if that's the same Mike Vogel that got stomped by a moose in Anchorage some years back. A year after that incident, he ended up shooting a moose in self defense on the Coastal Trai, I believe. If it is the same guy, he sure has a knack for getting into trouble.

    If so he's hard on hunting partners. You can't be too safe out there. Pick n' chose who you hunt with very carefully.

    Just FYI there have been several threads on here about rafting the gerstle and they turned into a debate. Some who have not actually rafted the canyon feel its a piece of cake. Obviously not....

    I hunt alone some and am buying an "In reach" GPS satellite unit by DeLorme. You can get help buy pushing a button. It also sends a GPS coordinate and pre-programmed message. I'm 70 now and it makes my wife sleep better. The mountains can be very unforgiving. Have fun-be safe.
