Default Getting ready to hunt the interior? heres a much needed reminder

While south of the AK range has seen some rain of late.. we have had Very little north of the range in the unit 20 region...

here is a link to the current fire status.. and a reminder.. we all love our camp fires.. HOWEVER.. we have been under a red flag warning for the last 2.5 months.. nearly non stop...

Hunters Please Be Careful with Your Campfire!
With the start of hunting season, hunters are urged to be extra careful with campfires and with anything that could start a fire. Extremely warm, dry conditions in the central and eastern Interior and limited firefighting resources make it urgent that those traveling in the backcountry use extra caution with anything that could cause a wildfire.
You are responsible for every fire you start. Make sure your campfire is dead out!

please take the time to open the link.. it provides a descrioption of many of the current fires in our part of the state... many are at or near popular hunting destionations..

    As Vince says!

This is a very critical situation here in Delta....VERY!

On the other hand, the glacial fed rivers are ripping and dangerous.......Military helis just rescued a hunter off the Gerstle......Johnson, Robertson and Jarvis are high.......sheep and caribou hunters in Western DCUA are waiting for smoke to blow out.

Got a little measurable rain in teh Banks today.. nice to have it for a change.. down south in the Rex trail, and Ferry areas.. we have had nearly ZILCH to measure.. all summer. lite sprinkle in the early mornings the last week or so.. but evening winds have dried it right back up.

as i stated in another thread.. this is the FIRST year since the early n 90s weve heard of or seen caribou come out of the Rex trail area.. on Wheelers none the less.. thats telling me the trail is drier then its been in decades for them to get that far in and back out in a few days time.

Just wanting folks to beable to plan ahead.. we all love our camp fires.. but we might have to do with out part of the season.. make sure the spark arrestors on the tent stoves are clean and work good.. sure hate to see anyone get a multi millon $$$$$$ bill for starting a fire.

of course.. its AK.. tommorrow could be snowing .. leaves are turning in and around some of the hills already...

Thanks, Vince! I evacuated twice this summer because of the Stuart Creek fire and I cannot figure these meatheads with campfires in the CSRA, but they're there. None of us wants to be the guy responsible for starting another one of these blazes.
