    Default Gamakatsu octpus hook for russian river ?

    are size 2 Gamakatsu octopus hooks legal for russian river ? If not not then which size should I buy ?

    I believe size 1 or 2 measures 3/8 gap. I want to say its size 1. I took a ruler and measured em to be sure. Then used some string/yarn to make a fly out of it. They work great. Much better hook up ratio than the cheap coho flies you get 3 for a buck.

    Thanks for the reply dude. If I am fishing downstream of the ferry drop off point then I don't need to worry about the 3/8th inch gap right ?

    I believe the 3/8 rule applies to the entire upper kenai.

    Regs state: Upper Kenai River Mainstream/Russian River Gear restrictions;
    Unbaited, single hook, artificial lures only. The maximum gap between point and shank is 3/8". Single hook means a fish hook with one point with or without barb.
