Default Dumb shrimping questions from a newbie?

What type and size rope do you use on your pots? Letís say I am shrimping in 300' feet of water how much extra rope do you use? From reading on here I see some or all of you shrimp more than one pot on your ropes. Can someone explain how that is rigged (how far apart Etc)? How many and what size floats do you use?

What size mesh do the pots have to be in SE Alaska Ketchikan Area. I have not been able to find that in the Alaska Regs online.

I have only crabbed for Dungies off the OregonCoast and in the Puget Sound in shallower waters using I pot per rope.

I will be traveling to Ketchikan this summer and I would like to try shrimping there. I also plan on shrimping in the HoodCanal next year in Washington and would like to gather all of the proper gear. I am installing a Power Winch Pot Puller now on the boat and have a davit already set up on the boat.

I really know nothing about shrimping past the basic concept so any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks Mike

I don't have a pot puller so I use one pot on each line. I fish 250-275' with 400' of 5/16 line. Some of my pots are setup with 5/16 poly (weighted to sink) and others have 5/16 leaded line. They both work well.

I have used 1/4 poly in the past but it is a little thin to pull by hand.
