Default About what do 29 inch AK bushwheels weigh ?

I am doing some back of my head useful load calculating.... regarding this plane

    http://alaskaslist.com/1/posts/10_Tr..._Dragger_.html

It supposedly weighs 1564 on the bushwheels. I think C-175s get a 100 pound gross weight increase on floats so the gross should be 2450 pounds.

I think that EDO 2440 floats weigh 340 pounds with ALL the rigging.

So I am wondering how much weight to figure for the landing gear and tail wheel being removed. (Ball-park figure)

The 175A/B/C grosses 2450 as a seaplane, while an original 175 has a gross of 2350 lbs both as a landplane and seaplane, according to the TCDS. I didn't see what floats were approved for it, so maybe some float installations get a high gross(?).

It is a nice looking plane though.

So probably close to 175-200 pounds for gear legs, brake assemblies, two wheels w/29 inchers and the tail wheel assembly.

Well it was just a thought...

29" Bushwheels on 6" Clevelands weigh 40# each.

Trying to follow the question...you were hoping the gear weight was more, so the useful load on floats would be higher?

It weighs 200 pounds more than many C-175s, so I was trying to extrapolate why, accounting for the C/S prop addition of course. But according to Mr Pid the 29 inch AK Bush wheels do not weigh much more than my 26 inch Goodyears.
The end number I was looking at was to figure out if it would work for me on floats. Which it would to some degree.

I have seen a few up-engine C-175s that were pretty good performers on floats. Their wing metal is a little thicker than a C-172.
I have flown a couple square tail C-175s that were tail wheel converted like this one and they acted like a C-180 that had been in the clothes dryer for a little too long.... Shrunk a little....

FP, if it would help I'll come over and take you for a ride in my 56 180 which has 29x10's on it. It stock other than the wheels so the 20hp more would even out a lot with the extra weight and may be close in performance. Tom

I just put those on my 180K this spring...Here is the difference...The others were 850's...When we put them on a scale they weighed 52 lbs each with 29x10 AKbushwheel wheels...
