    Default One month

One month from today I will be getting no sleep thinking about the morning to come. Only problem is I won't get home from work till the 4th. So it'll be 4 nights of no sleep and hopefully reading some good posts from the ones lucky enough to hit the opener.

I may skip the opener this year and go on Monday. I can't imagine the zoo that is going to happen on the first. I may hang around chicken for a extra day or two and go after a grizz or other predators.

I don't leave the slope until the 10th.
Thanks for the reminder Tony. I have been meaning to make some new decoy weights I bought the mold for.
I plan on making and rigging up some decoys with J weights. I bought the do-it mold and some surgical tubing etc. to rig them up.
I hope it is a good year. I also need to get with my hunting buddies and shoot some clay's at the range.

Thanks for the reminder about the weights. I was going to get with AKMarine and get my puddle duck decoys Texas rigged. Now I just need to get him away from slaying salmon for a day and get it done!

Don't get used to counting to ten. Might get you in trouble. You only need to count to eight. Haha

Big time procrastinator here, still have a list of what i need to do to be ready for the 1st. 1) Repair hull of duck boat to slow down leaks 2) build new blind for duck boat 3) get sliding weights for deks and attach to lines 4) repaint or touch up paint on duck boat 5) go though last years hunting stuff and replace what isn't useable 6) practice on my duck call 7) jam a years worth of dog training into this last month so my dog will be worth taking out with me 8) check out motor for duck boat that has been sitting since last oct. 9) half doz other things i can recall right now

One of my biggest problems is my wifes birthday is Sept 1st also, so still need to buy gift, card and make reservation for restaurant, but i will be on the marsh on Sept 1, unless i die first. Bud

I could head out today but still have things on my list to hopefully get done. I am going to have a lot of work to so my week home before the opener. The biggest thing I need to do is build a portable blind and buy more decoys. But this week home it's all about the sheep.

I still haven't even started on getting ready, but I've got caribou on the brain right now. Lots of cranes around, hopefully I can get lucky on one or two again this year

I'm sitting here going through my stuff again and see that's it's still ready to go. Pulled my shotgun out of the case and the smell of burnt powder came with it.... Oh good lord that's a sexy smell.
If they ever make women's perfume that smelled like burnt powder from a shotgun.....

Rerigging some decoys with the new weights I cast. Got about half done so far.
    Picked up some shells.
Need to hit the trap range once or twice.
Ordered a new Duck Commander duck call.
I should be ready when I get off the slope next month.

Been out scouting, ducks and geese are far and few between this year, at least until the cold forces down a few. I am suggesting that moose would be a much better way to put meat on the table for most of us. Bud

Bud, I'm seeing the same thing. Not many birds around at all with the exception of cranes. Hopefully the ducks are just hiding out in the grass.
