    Red face Chena-Salcha Chums

Could someone please explain why the Chena and Salcha chums are so finicky? The same lures/flies I use and slay them with everywhere else seem to get a cold nose and the "hurry up" swim-by in these rivers. I get the few odd takers, but for the most part they just don't care. I've even tried using ultra small lures/flies with no better luck. They almost seem afraid of anything else near them. Thinking it's because theyve gone a longer distance are just ready to get-er-done. Any advice?

    Thx.....

I experience the same thing with the fresh chums in kodiak salt. When they turn they are aggressive but unlike fresh chums most everywhere else the ones hear are tough to get to hit. Only thing I know is they prefer small green flies and they most always hit it light on the sink. if i don't get a hit after it sinks i will make a huge strip so it will get to the surface and then i will let it sink again.

It's all worth it in the end as a chrome ocean chum fight is hard to beat!

not up there anymore but used to go to the salcha and use the rushian river fly in green no weight. fish all the eddies on the way down the river from the bridge. if the current was bad i would put a small split shot about 24 inches above the fly
