Default Here come the Caribou already !!

We just checked in our First 4 Caribou Bulls for this year.

They got them out East of Happy Valley.

I cant remember whom they said they flew in with.

Good way to kick off the season.

    Imagine the Mosquitos!
The antlers aren't fully developed for another 3 weeks, or am I mistaken?

    These antlers are fine.

VERY pretty velvet on all of em.

They said they took a bottle of 100 % Deet but hardly used it because the wind blew pretty good every day.

By not fully developed I mean they could still put on a few more inches in the next 3-4 weeks before it starts to shed right?

Do you keep the velvet on the mounts or strip it and put it back via flocking? How do you keep them from stinking if you leave the velvet on?

The Velvet is Tanned on the antlers, unless someone wants artifitial velvet. In that case we send it in to a company & they put it on.Its Very durable.

The real velvet ( If done Properly) doesn't stink at all. If they already stink when they come in you cant get them to not smell without removing the velvet & having them done with Artifitial velvet.

I already have 2 this year that the hunters trashed the real velvet & will be artifitial on their mounts.

Cost is about $ 400. per set to have the artifitial velvet done including shipping on an average set.

I have seen a few heads dropped off at an un-named but seemingly unpopular taxidermist over the last few days.

I am happy to see some get out and have fun.
