Default Little Su ~ Anybody been there lately?

I'll be there on Thursday. Is there anything in the river yet?

Lots of chum and a fair amount of silvers. Water is very low. Big change in the channel just below the pipeline so be carefull.

Are they making their way up to Burma Landing yet or do you still need a boat and go down to the mouth?

I went down to Burma today and didn't see a single fish. A guide had a boat load of them, I'm assuming down at the mouth is where they were caught.

I was just reading on AOJ a guy said about the same thing. He said the water was extremely low and that all the fish were hanging out down by the mouth. Another guy on there also said that the silver return was still not great down at the mouth but they were there.

I don't know what you guys are talking about, it was a blood bath out there today. Here are a few more pictures.

There are tons of fish in the river. I caught a jack king, two rainbows, a pick, and a couple of silvers (only kept two), but I saw lots and lots of them, Tons of chums too.

Good thing you only kept two, its the limit! Surprised you kept any, don't you advocate shutting things down when runs are low? Little su has come up short on silvers the last few years.

Funny you should mention that. I asked my guide and he said this is more fish than he's seen in years, so it was OK to keep two. Actually I was going to C&R chums, but I didn't catch a one.

On the plus side, I saw a BUNCH of fire engine red kings. I'm talking lots and lots of them.

What ever the rules are, I'll follow them.

Following the rules is all anyone is doing when any river is open for any species. Look how ppl were being 2nd guessed for fishing kings on the Kenai, it was open just a few days ago. Might just turn out to be a good run who knows it is very early still. Glad you had a good trip. I know your guide is top notch. I fish with him more than twenty times a year.

Glad to hear, the past few years were ridiculously low though in returns so I would sure hope its more than he has seen in years lol. Glad to hear they are finally moving! Did you guys go all the way down to the mouth or did you catch them up a ways? I keep hearing they are at the mouth but have yet to hear of them really making it up to Burma landing.

Clarification, that picture of the guy with the fish is NOT me, he was just a friendly guy that let me take his picture.

Yes, they've made it up to Burma Landing, and then some

The water is very low but on the rise just a little right now. You can track water level by going to the usgs web site. Raining in Hatchers Pass as I type this.

You can use a treble hook, downstream of the Parks Hwy, ( I called F&G on that ) as king season is over, just no bait till August 6th.
