Default Middle Chena Moose Hunt- Info Request

I'm looking for info about the East/ Middle Fork of Chena River and access. I'm considering a hunt the end of September. What is the general condition of the river for a float? It's my understanding that the water is thin and slow moving. How difficult is it to make way up river?

Is the "winter trail" passable on foot? I'm considering traveling the trail in and floating out. Can the valley be walked? Or, is this an argo and airboat area?

What's the status of the moose population in the area?

    thanks,
    Tom

That's not burning yet. The Stuart Creek fire is moving towards Hunts Creek and hasn't gotten to the south fork yet. It's nowhere near the middle fork and unless things fall apart in a very big way, it won't get close.

FWIW the upper Chena is approaching record low levels right now. It's anybody's guess how it will be in September but if it stays very low it should be walkable/wadable.
