    Default Rockfish question

I caught a couple yellow eye this week end and when cleaning I discovered they were full of eggs. So the big question, is the season open to early for rockfish?? I've never seen this before.

Whatablast, There is no closed season(in cook inlet) for rockfish and unless they are juvenile, they will have eggs in them(the females). It just depends on where they are in their reproductive cycle. They have little to no eggs when immature, very little or none when spent or resting(stages after spawning), and full of eggs the rest of the time(very full when ready to spawn or fertilized).
    Happy fishing.
