Default Alaskan Sea-Duction has a new Winter Home

Well I have started with the retirement plan. I retire in less than 3 years. The Admiral and I bought a dock on the lower Columbia River. This insignificant for a few reasons. One there are no new docks being approved by Washington State DNR for the lower Columbia River, which means you have to buy one that is already built. Rarely if ever does this occur. We happen to be in the right place at the right time and got really really lucky. There are at least 3 other folks I know that tried to undercut me and offer the owners more (much more) than what I was buying the dock for. Second this dock will be used as a "winter base" as we plan to get a bigger boat and cruise the inside passage and PWS during the summer months.

Lots of work to do and some relaxing too. This past weekend the Admiral caught the first fish off of the dock, a nice steelie.

Well my lumber has arrived. Those 6 x 6 x 10s are heavy.... I ordered my hardware which is being shipped out of Missouri. I found ordering from these guys is more than 1/2 the cost had I bought them from places like Lowes or H.D. I have 130 5/8 x 16" and 200 1/2 x 6" galvanized lag bolts and washers coming. Hoping to have it by the 5th. I am still spend over $500 for bolts and washers. I will be drilling pilot holes for the bolts and bought me a 1/2" low speed, high torque drill with auger bits. A friend of mine just brought over a huge 3/4 drive electric impact that should drive the screws in very nicely. This should be fun. Go to the blog if you want pics.

Can't wait to get a bigger boat and start crusing SE and then on to PWS......

I ordered them out of Missouri. I found a place that was 1/2 of what Lowes was called Fastenal, but this place is another 1/2 of what Fastenal is. Great service and ships fast, normally UPS. I saved about $400.

For those that want to see the progress on the dock look at my blog. I have about 40' of the 80 foot dock done.
