    Default salt for caribou cape

On average how many pounds of salt should I expect to use on a caribou cape? Don't want to bring a lot more than I need but want to make sure I have enough.

If you really are weight-restricted, 5lbs is the minimum. Ten pounds is better. In any event, you MUST turn the lips/ears/eyes/nose and remove all the flesh/fat from the cape before salting.
