Default Whittier to Valdez on the skis

This last Friday my buddy and I took the waverunners from Whittier to Valdez for lunch. The weather was as good as could be expected. Coming out of Whittier was a little windy in the morning with a bit of chop but then once we got out of Passage canal it was pretty nice until we rounded Glacier Island. When we got closer to Valdez it got a little bit more rough. I know rough is a relative term but when you are on a jetski even 2' seas can beat you up pretty bad. Because of the 2' seas just out of Valdez and because of us taking our time it took 5 hours on the way there.

We ate a pizza at Mike's and by the time we got back on the skis the wind was a little worse coming out of Valdez. This time because of the wind we tucked behind Glacier Island and it was glass. The rest of the way back to Whittier was pretty glassy and we were able to make good time. We made it back from Valdez to Whittier in a little over 2 and a half hours. It was great.

We did just under 200 miles round trip. It was fun but I am definitely sore. I know we aren't the first ones to do this trip on skis and we won't be the last, but it was the longest trip I've been on so far. It was a great time. Here are some photos. I just though I would share this with you guys.

    Default Cool

Im pretty sure u guys were in line right behind me at the tunnel in the morning and also at at the tunnel on the way out at around 10pm Fri. Black pickup? Looked like at least one of u was carrying an extra 15 gallons. I took my Fam out for a day of fishing on Knight Island. Sounds like a blast and I plan on doing it one day on the boat.

Yup, that was us behind you both ways. You have a nice boat!

We Did carry extra fuel. We can actually make it all the way to Valdez on a full tank but that would be cutting it close and wouldn't give us any fuel to play around.

It takes us 15 gallons to get to Valdez. It was a fun trip.
