Either its not working yet or the first fish are running late. I'm hoping for the big early run again so I can fill my freezer June 1-2.

Looks like the fish will be running a little late this year.

I wouldn't count the fish out yet. That's a challenging system to get working and the weather has kind of sucked this spring. They haven't "updated" it in several days, which kind of gives me the idea it's not working yet because they are usually very good about daily updates. Commfish guys are getting fair numbers, so the fish are there. When they get upriver is anyone's guess, though, at this point.

I'd venture the fish are in the river just not being counted due to technical issues with the system.
We do not go to the green woods and crystal waters to rough it, we go to smooth it. We get it rough enough at home; in towns and cities; in shops, offices, stores, banks anywhere that we may be placed

    Yessir, that is correct:

    FYI about the ADF&G counter:

Just got off the phone with them in Glennallen, and they said they have the counter partly up, but there's still 5 feet of ice on one side of the lake. They're augering a bunch of holes in it to try to speed up the breakup, but as of now they have no ETA on when it will be up and running.

Here they come! Just over 8,000 counted yesterday. If this keeps climbing it will put the run about 10 days later then average.

Woohoo! The 0600 count was 4955. Fish are coming, fish are coming!

    Fish On!
You know your not catching any fish when you start talking about the weather...

    And so it begins.....

Anyone care to make early predictions for fishing on the 10th?

Weather is supposed to gradually cool, which should lower the river and make it fishable, but will the fish get there in time?

We should start some sort of lottery measured by success rates.....

I'm all in...but not for the weekend. Give today's count 10 days and we're talking DZ surge mid week.

I'm thinking the 19th. With the water high like it is fishing will not be good even if the numbers are high.

I think the numbers at the counter are going to surge dramatically in the next few days. Wouldn't surprise me to see 30,000+ for a few days. There's a lot of fish waiting to head upriver.

Got my summer work schedule today. Looks like I'll be hitting it in early August this year. Kinda looking forward to that, actually. Never dipped that late in the season there and the fishing pressure should be lower.

Then two weeks off at the end of August/beginning of September....Valdez silvers and maybe moose hunting! This could shape up to be a fun summer....

I like the new comment section that fish and game has added to the Miles Lake Counter.
