I don't take pleasure in somebody else's misfortune. There has been a number of occasions were I could have traded places with this fellow.

All of us. A joke about this is pretty creepy to me.

Duane left an 8 year old daughter. You are an ass.

My name is Wes, you can come on down to Homer if you want to discuss this further.

My condolences to the deceased, and his family.
Mocking a moment such as this is a piss poor reflection of ones (lack of) character.

I made a mistake, but you'all "Righteous" people enjoy over and over picking at it. Like picking at a scab so it will not heal. I will own my error in judgment. You'all can live with your righteous superior condescending snide remarks.

Not looking for an argument AGL, so I'll make this my last comment on the subject.
First off, you're one of a handful of folks on this site who've earned my respect, you've "been there and done that" up here for longer than most members have been alive.

With that said, there is a time and place for Gallows Humor, and this wasn't one of em. Believe me, I'm far from righteous, and have enough sin to fill a supertanker.

However, many of us, yourself included, come from a lifestyle that isn't the average 9 to 5 gig. It's a lifestyle of remote work in less than safe conditions, and we've all lost close friends or family to those same conditions.
For me, personally, I can name 3 pilots in the last couple of years who I considered good friends, that are no longer with us. No doubt you have lost good friends who where fellow guides or pilots that fly us to and fro' in less than ideal conditions.
Likely if someone made a joke out of their death, you'd be highly pissed off.

You're a good dude AGL, you made a poor comment, and with all due respect sir, apologizing and moving on is likely a better route than attacking those who found the comment justifiably in poor taste.

    Take care sir.

That makes it even worst, I am by myself no family to speak of , If I bought it today nobody would even notice. Sad for the little girl. Its never good too loose a parent that young.
