Default Should we reschedule the knik river run until Sunday the 11 May

Here in Wasilla supposed to get up to 9 inches of snow with it snowing the hardest on Saturday. With that in mind should we wait until Sunday when the weather is supposed to by sunny. Whats everyone think. Chris

No dog in the fight but a snow storm would make for very cool photos.

I am going Sat, snow or not, tied up Sunday.
Only issue I see is recovery of boats but with multiple trucks and tow straps there should not be an issue.

    I aint a feared. hahaha
    See ya there.

What? Reschedule because of snow? No way! I'm still in, no matter what! But you guys are gonna have to not run off and leave me in my 16' Jon with a surface drive!

I'm still planning on being there, I've got a major itch that needs scratching, this boat needs to get wet! Now I just need to hope it stays wet and doesn't end up dry like some of those pictures I saw :-) I wouldn't be making this run by myself as I've never been on the Knik but if you guys are still going I'm going.

I all dependeds if we can get to the glacier or not. I have never been all the way up dont even know if we can get there yet because of ice. BUt I would say if we can get to the glacier then at least until late afternoon if not then three or four hours I guess.

Its roughly 37-40 miles one way, depending on speed roughly 2hrs up and 2hrs back. It can be run alot faster but we should probally run with what everyone is comfortable with. Now that dont count the time we spend getting someone (me) unstuck and or goofing around in the shallows or lunch.
It will be a good time to be had for all!

As long as I'm behind someone who knows the river, I'll keep her tached out the whole way! I'll make sure to pack a lunch, but my main goal tomorrow is to see/learn the river. I wouldn't mind making it back somewhat early in the afternoon if that's possible. I'm about to be in Homer for a few days and then back to the slope, so some time with the family wouldn't be terrible.

One way or the other, I'll be there with duckslayer56 riding on the bow. Should be a good time. I'll bring a camera along, too, and try to get some pictures. Hopefully none of anyone high and dry!

    Count me in...
is it really 37 miles from that bridge? I have been up from the bridge in the butte numerous times and I figured about 18-20 miles from there, about 40 minutes or so. I guess ill have to GPS it tomorrow and see for sure.

No where close to 35-40 miles, maybe if you spend time doing doughnuts at various points in the river here and there. Should take tops 2 hours up and 2 hours back. Don't know if you can make it all the way yet BUT I have been down there several times doing some river trials (check ride from winter maintenance) and have seen multiple people attempting by hasn't heard of anyone making it all the way yet

Ya I would guess about 30 miles max from the parks bridge.
What time is everyone showing up?

I think the original start time posted was 10. Does that work for everyone? I'm ok with 10 or earlier, doesn't matter to me.
