    Default Sheenjek river

Hi. I am planning to canoe Sheenjek River from the Double Mountain airstrip in the beginning of July. Does anyone know what the aufeis conditions are likely to be this year?

I am also planning to send some food to Fort Yukon by post. What are the costs per kilogram, and how does the "poste restante" service work in the US?

    Thanks!

The ice should be gone in July. Send your stuff to your pilot. Are you paddling into Fort Yukon? The Porcupine comes out below Fort Yukon. Where are you ending this paddling trip at?

Thanks for fast reply. We are continuing down the Yukon and want to pick up some food in Fort Yukon. It's only a few kilometers to walk to Fort Yukon from the north side (http://goo.gl/maps/UTVBB), which looks ok.

Maraust, if you continue down river another few hundred meters, just before hospital lake there is a trail that hits the river bank and it leads into the end of the runway. You'll be NW of the village. Fort Yukon is very spread out. Leave someone with your gear, don't leave it unattended. There is an AC store in FYU....also a city liqueur store if you are running low...who is flying you into Double Mountain?
