I have a Savage 116 .338 WM with a stailness 24" fluted barrel with on/off muzzle break. It really loves 200 grain ballistic tips (1/2 moa tackdriver). It shot moa with larger loads like 250 gr. I found the longer barrel to be a bit much for SE deer hunting in blueberry brush and clear cuts.

I just ordered a Savage 116 .338 WM with a stainless 18" barrel Alaskan Brush Hunter. We shall see if it likes the same ammo or if it is a whole different animal.

Does anybody have similar experiences of short to long barrel guns from the same manufacturers in ammo preference?
