    Default Seward/Sterling Highway Black Bear?

I've been out glassing and hiking around the past three weekends at several locations. I've tried both directions from the Y and the Hope turn off, but not much sign, just other hunters and moose. Has anyone seen any out yet?

I haven't been down that far layely but there still seems to be an awful lot of snow down low. Keep after it and make sure you're out on the sunny days. Seems like the sun brings them out!

I've yet to see any sign of bears up high or down low, still too much snow. There are a few out but all I've been hearing about are browns, i'll be waiting until this weekend at the earliest to go again.

I have seen eight this spring, but none in the last 10 days. This time of year they will head for anything "Green".

Based on snow levels down there this past weekend I have serious doubts if there will be much open area to glass this coming weekend. Winter just doesn't seem to want to give up in the mountains.

Put a lot of miles on the truck today...nothin. A trooper stopped and talked for a little, he said he hasn't been seeing them either.

A lady in No. Kenai came around a corner in her vehicle and spooked a sow and cubs......the cubs went up a tree. If sows w/ cubs are out you know there are plenty of boars out too. Just depends on where you're looking....
Sheep hunting...... the pain goes away, but the stupidity remains...!!!

Seward/sterling are pretty slow this year with the late spring. Just how it goes sometimes ... Lowlands are pretty good about now but the hard part is without baiting you will likely be pissing up wind with the exception of a few areas.. My opinion of course...

There was a small black bear running around on of the pull outs on the Seward highway today.

About 1-3 feet of snow above 1500' yesterday. Cut one set of bear tracks in the trail, big brown. The tree buds are getting big, I suspect next weekend could be the prime weekend for sterling highway bears.
