    Question Selling fur

Needing some advice on selling what I've caught this season. It will be mainly muskrats that I'm trying to sell, and I'm just not sure what the best way to go about it is because I've never really done it before! I know I'm waaay too late for the NAFA auction, so should I ship them to FHA for their next auction? If so, what all do I need to do as far as getting them ready to ship? Or maybe I'm better off selling locally to an indivdual? Thank you guys in advance for any help, just trying to get as much advice as I can!

Since the response here is pretty underwhelming & I don't know the answer - check out "trapperman.com" - wilderness trapping forum. I'm sure someone there can get you pointed in the right direction.

You might try Mike Williard in Copper Center (907) 200-4772. He is a local fur buyer.

Sounds like at the time you made the post you were still trapping. If you care for the hides properly, you can save them till next season. Otherwise there are at least 3 regular fur buyers in this state. Mike Willard is one. Joe Mattie and Bill Wivoda are in Fbks. Not sure if any are buying rats. There are also numerous buyers in the lower 48 you could ship to.
I think there are often auctions in Sept. to clear out goods from previous season. Check the NAFA and FHA websites.
Might try an ad on Craigslist and Alaskaslist. If you get enough rats for a parka you might find buyers.
