    Default Kotz Griz-Spring 2013

I just spoke with one of my students up in Kotz and he has taken what looks to be the first Griz in the area. 7 footer just above the Fish Hatchery on the Noatak River. They still have lots of snow and it is cold for May. I am guessing that this will be a late break up and late spring bear season. If anyone else has taken another Griz in Unit 23 chime in.

Theres a few out. Yesterday morning at Callahan on Escholtz Bay, we had a nice 7-8 footer coming off the Ocean to the cabin, but bino's determined he was skinny, so he kept on living another day....... Today we saw he was cleaning up Sheefish heads'backbones left at the holes on Kobuk lake He wont be skinny long.
