Question Sitka Road System Fly Fishing

After a short hiatus from the great land I am getting to come back, I will be heading to Sitka this summer. Anybody have any info what streams are available on the road system to fly fish? The regs look pretty prohibitive to salmon fishing.

What about dollies and sea run cuts?

    Thanks,
    Dave

Nobody ever fly fished the Sitka road system? C'mon, somebody must have something to say.

That's pretty much right; there's nothing significant to fish from the road "system" out of Sitka; the (much) better fishing quality and variety is accessed via boat and floatplane - some a relatively short distance but nothing you are going to drive or hike to.

Hopefully that link works. It's been a while since I was there, but it looks like you can still fish pinks in the indian river above the bridge.

there are some dollies in indian river. I also picked up some on the ocean on the north end of town just north of the grocery store outside the harbor jetty. You can have a humpy fest up by the terminal, its kinda crazy dumb lol. Its fun but after awhile there's no challenge. silvers will be in later, you can fish'm in the salt.

fished kings out by the hatchery after I was done chartering for the day, but you'll need a boat for it. The owners of the fly shop will be out, hook up with them they may run out. big fuschia bunnies cast out in front of them sight fishing is how I did it, or pinkish and orange popciciles worked well.
