    Default Eklutna Tailrace 2013

Since nobody has mentioned the tailrace yet and there are no EOs for this fishery, I thought I would start a thread for those who fish those waters... For all you fish forecasters out there, how many kings will return and when will they start running? ... "fishon"

I figure around 7 fish all under 20" that should show up around may 9th....

In all honesty I will am not even targeting kings this year. They need a rest. Be it salt or fresh I'm good w/o for a few years. I hope we get good Silver run this year but you never know

Its a hatchery run so they probably wont EO it. I never fish kings there anyway since its always a zoo and the fishing usually stinks. I fish silvers there every once in a while when I dont feel like driving and have had success. Otherwise I dont mess with it.

Any updates on the ice conditions for the Knik River yet? I know its early for that river but i'm getting excited. My calender for last year shows that I was on Finger lake on Tuesday. Won't happen this year. Thanx for your input... "fishon"

Last time I drove by the knik most of the ice was on the way out or parked on the bank. I dont know how navigable it is but the water is moving through there pretty good. Yesterdays rain coupled with these next couple of days of warm weather should help out too.

I dont see why not. People do this all over the state on trails and rivers. I know there is a group getting together to clean up eagle river of all the debris from last years flood.

If you really want to be safe you can ask a trooper Im sure they would tell you if there were any legal ramifications of doing something like that.

The water is high enough now to get a boat in there for sure but no fish as of yet. If anybody fishes the tailrace, please update as needed. I want to hit that river once them suckers arrive... thanx... "fishon"
