    Default Got Crabs?

Are there any crabs of any subspecies out of whittier or seward?

Yes, there are. Legal sportfishing opportunities are limited, though. There is a tanner crab season during the winter out of Whittier - October through March, I think? I think there is a winter king crab season as well. Anyhow, yes - there are tanners, kings, and dungeness in the Sound (along with little crabs such as decorator crabs).

No, not unless you enjoy going out there in the winter. The fishery sounds good on paper, but with limited daylight and frequent storms, participation is basically nil.

We used to do good for kings, dungies and tanners back in the early 80's. We even threw back the tanners because they were too hard to clean. those were the days!

Good tanner fishery in K-Bay, but debatable if it's worth it as a non-Homer area res.

It was closed last year and likely will remain closed this year as well.
Maybe HomerDave will chime in on this one and give us some more insight into the future of this fishery.
As for now I wouldn't get geared up for the fishery in Homer.

Sorry, hadn't done it in a few years since my boat was stolen... Hopefully some more recent fisherman can chime in.

It was stored at my friends gravel pad at 3 mile East End road while I was deployed to Afghanistan (national guard). The guy living in the trailer on the property sold it as if it was his own, but the state prosecutor could not prove it.

I got the kicker motor back since it was pawned at an AP pawn shop and I found it there

The aforementioned friend has serious financial difficulties, and going to him for replacement is a no go.

Trying to first a secure place to leave my boat closer to homer. Towing it down is a long tug from anchor town.

I'm sure it was stripped. If anyone gets a really good deal on a 2006 75hp Optimax, and a 2006 Karavan trailer in the 18-21 class, let me know.

Oh man....that's the *****s. And while you were deployed non-the-less......

If they ever open tanners in homer again, contact me. We can try to fill your permit for a day on my boat.

Thanks, seriously, but I'm ok, I loved going out and getting my limit of crabs and halibut, but I'll get there again, it will just cost me a bit more when I save up for another boat. A deal will come along, I'm sure.
