    Default merc 115

I have a merc 115. I bought a lower unit for it. When it was on the hose in the driveway, it ran and shifted fine. It revved up good. In the water, it acts like it's cavitating or something. I couldn't get more than a couple MPH out of it. Any ideas?

Is it a new prop? It could be a spun prop hub.

New lower or used, was the prop on it, or did you install it ?

did you switch a long shaft lower unit to a short shaft? That would do it too, if negative on the prop questions...
