    Default Nome in July/August?

Any hunting up there around then? What about fishing?

Caribou and moose if you have the equipment to get 100+ miles out of town. (75 miles of gravel, 15-50 off road) Some salmon, but pitiful compared to most of the state. Grayling can be fantastic.

Saw a few ptarmigan on the hilltops - maybe a fins n feathers adventure would doable.

Hunting in July would leave you caribou or beaver. Have to get 80 miles north of town and better off with 4 wheeler to get caribou. Bou are also around in Aug.
Aug 1 is Moose, but only in 22E.
July fishing will be dollies, grayling, and pink salmon. Pink run is low in odd years. Usually still enough to catch. August is Silver (coho) salmon. If it is a good run it can be very good fishing. Some folks manage to get a few reds out of the Pilgrim R, up by Salmon lake.

Looks like a bunch of fishing if I get sent there... Too bad I won't be able to bring my quad or my Pointer.

I've always wanted to fish for grayling.
