    Default spring bear hunt

The bears in this area seem to be running a little late this year but we managed to find a few the other day. It was a beautiful sunny day around 20 which must have finally kicked a few into gear. after riding around fifty or sixty miles and only seeing a couple sets of tracks we ventured up a long narrow steep valley with some good denning areas. after seeing a small bear scramble up a hillside we figured this was a good area. a few miles up the valley I spotted a good looking bear trekking across a hillside. after wading through crotch deep snow I was able to get into a reasonable shooting range of around 250-300yrds with my .300. two shots two hits and down the mountain he rolled. a glance about half mile across the valley revealed he was not the only bear in the drainage as another bear beat feet up over the ridge. good hunting. after skinning him on a deep hillside I had to drag a very heavy hide and skull down the mountain. without my wife and friends it would have been awful. squared a touch under 8 I think around 7-10 ish nice grizzly for up here. spring bear 2013 007.jpgspring bear 2013 006.jpg

    Nice.

If your tagging it, you must be rugging it. Nice.
