Default Hassler Harbor - SE of Ketchikan

Has anyone out of Ketchikan overnighted in Hassler Harbor? I am headed up in June and it looks like a good place to launch from to look for Halibut to the east. The charts make it look pretty good. Wondered if any of you had stayed there.

This is a Alaska Power Boating forum question. You may get better results posting there...

Thanks, I thought of that too, but it seems to fit either one.

Never been in there, but the east side of bold island is a nice place to anchor.

I'm not sure about all the legalities involved, but isn't Hassler Harbor on Annette Island? It is an Indian Reservation and you might need to find out if you can anchor in that area.

I sent an email / pm ... if it is within the boundary of the Annette Reservation, it is no trespass with out permission. Even transporting thru their waters can get you in trouble.

Thanks Johnnie, thought it was something like that.

Good points about the reservation. I know that you can't fish within 3000 ft but I had not heard about being in the water or staying the night. I probably have busted that if you can't even pass through. I have a call in to a friend that lives on Annette to ask if it is just fishing that is prohibited. I will let you know what I find out.
