Default Found a Kenai Brown Bear awake today

While out with my wife on the snowmachine we found fresh tracks of a large brown bear roaming around. His tracks went in a circle of about a mile through a meadow and then he returned to where he came from. Based upon the size of the tracks I would guess he was 8' or better, I have a size 11 boot and my foot fit easily inside his hind foot. He was on the Refuge (15A about 7 miles north of Kenai)and would be easy to get, if anyone has a permit for this area PM me. The season starts tomorrow and I wouldn't mind someone taking him as this is right in the middle of the area where I hunt moose.

Well I know there was one guy here that has the tag because he was asking about where to go just a few weeks ago. Hopefully he'll see your thread and follow up.....

Thanks for the heads up, I was in 15a today and my dog went nutz 3/4 of the way through our hike, I was wondering bear or moose... Never did see what he was all jacked up about.

    Akmac,

That is great news. That is second bear I have heard is out. My tag is in DB309 area. Appreciate the information. Always good to hear some are moving around.

Send him my way. I have a tag for Western Kenai Peninsula, anywhere outside of the refuge. Also DB309. Chase them down to my place in Sterling. I'm out looking most evenings.

Like I told stangracer72, there's always that chance that he will wonder off the refuge, but you'll have to go cut his tracks to find out. Get after it....!!!

I know he has the DB 309 Tag and that does not include anywhere on the refuge
