    Default Don West, ( the torch) went west a few weeks ago...

    Don West, also known as the pilot of the Super Cub named TORCH , died March 2, 2013, in Fairbanks.

    Don in the United States Air Force with 20 years of service.
    He then joined the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller. Fairbanks, Nome and Kotzebue were among the places he worked in the FAA. He retired from the FAA in September 2012, after another 20 years of service.
    He then became a flight instructor with ProFlite Alaska.

    Clear skies and calm winds brother.... we will catch up at the next gravel bar.........

    That's tough. A lot of folks owe their lives to "Torch" without realizing he ever had a hand in coordinating their rescue. He was a RCC Controller for a while. Hope a clear, calm, and sunny ride home my friend.
