    Default Charter halibut permit price

How low will they go? One sold today $31,000 for a 6pac. I think next year $20,000 or less. Three years ago $70,000. Not looking good.

With the continued reductions in the Total Allowable Catch and the Pending Catch Share Plan that links the charter fleet to abundance....I would expect the charter permit prices to continue to lose value. I think the higher prices a few years ago, were those that really needed one, reacting to new management measures. You can also look at what people "really" paid for them on the RAM website and there were only a few 6 pack permits that sold for 60 - 70 K, even a few years ago. Most went for less.
I can't imagine anyone in their right mind entering the charter fishing business or expanding with whats on the horizon. With that said, I know of three new boats in Seward this summer.....?????

I did get $70K for mine. Just found out that one sold here in Homer for $25K but now the guy is stuck with the boat.
