Default For all the 26'Alaskan Owners? Or other help??

Anyone with a 26' Alaskan ever weld in the Gill bracket on their boat like how hewes does the 22 OP? Its a 22 but with the bottom of the hull extension its a 24...I see that the 26 has a different bracket. It doen't look like it would be hard, and it would put almost 2' more in the water....not sure why they would be different from the factory....any ideas or has anyone done this?

The old service manager at Deweys, Rod, did this to his. It was being used as a charter vessel. He said that it planed out quicker and the boat leveled out on step giving him a much smoother ride. I believe it is down in SE now.
