Default Having a son, need help with names!

So my GF and I are excepting a new addition to our family and she has agreed to have the middle name be Hoyt. The problem is, what to use as a first name. I am looking for something outdoorsy/rustic/hunting. Hunter is way to popular, so that out of the question. I know this is a strange place to post this question, but us hunters should figure out something, right???
Hunt until you don't like it any more

I was blessed with a daughter when I had hoped for a son. I have always loved the name Tamarack as a boy's name.

The first name of "Rusty" is a bit rustic, but you probably don't want to use that next to your chosen middle name.

Personally, I like the sound of Ethan Hoyt _________. I guess Ethan somehow means strong, firm, and safe. And the two put together rolls off the tongue well.

But these days, you probably have to google up any intended name just to make sure there isn't an axe murderer by that name living in the neighborhood with that name already, or possibly a quite-famous porn star, or some such.

One last bit of advice that is somewhat off topic. When the name is final, go buy WhateverHoytWhatever.com and .net, park both domain names at the cheapest place (that you bought them from) by the year, and keep the bill paid every year. He'll be the only kid in his high school class that owns his own domain name - no one will have to ask him his email address if they know his name. It won't cost you much, except 18 years of regular (very small) yearly payments.

If you want to see if WhateverHoytWhatever.com is available/not already taken, you can go to betterwhois.com and they'll tell you for free.

pork chop and lunchbox are two of my favorites. Junior is overused.

Granted, these names may be more popular where I live

Please remember this youngster will carry this name around for the rest of his life. It'll be on every resume, he'll have to get past some future girlfriend's mother, not to mention how it'll be received during his school years. The accomplishments of his life, not his name will, define him. Common names that stand above others in outdoor lore: Jack London, Jack O'Connor, Ernest Hemmingway, Robert Ruark, Theodore Roosevelt, Craig Boddington, Robert Service (which leads to a brain fart - how about Dawson?, after Dawson City, Yukon where Mr. Service wrote some of his earliest work). Dawson Hoyt Whateveryourlastnameis, sort of has a nice ring - I think anyway.

    You could, Go Biblical,...

"Nimrod," .....(which means, "Mighty Hunter, before the Lord.") Just Kidding,...

I actually bought a Fishing Boat once, that had been named, "Nimrod,"....not kidding,....
I couldn't change that name fast enough
tho it has a cool meaning (seriously, it's in there, check it out Genesis 10:9)

the tease in school factor is a big one for the boys

to get really imaginative,...wouldn't "Rifle," be kinda cool ?
(would it be, Rifle Hoyt Corwin ?)

I can hear that called out in class,...
has a powerful connotation,...nobody's going to tease that,....( I can imagine mom's rolling eyes from here )

Archer or Robin might be cool, too. My old man named me Charles Russell, after the painter; I didn't turn out artistic, but since our last name's Wood and I go by Chuck, and he wanted me to be a carpenter like him, I think he's quite tickled with the result

Careful with the Hoyt thing-- a buddy named his daughter Liberty--(he used to be a huge Polaris fan until he bought the 900 with the Liberty motor) he says she wasn't named after the motor, but it was pretty coincidental that she was named right as all the hoopla about Polaris' new motor. Polaris fans/haters will know how that turned out for them. Not to say that Hoyt will have a lemon, but you never know...
Always liked Guage, Remington, Orion---but, I think my top is Beau (Bow). If I were into having kids--Beau Hunter ____ would be my choice.
