    Default Green Chiles

Just wondering if anyone has tried growing green chiles up here? If so, when should I start them? We have a green house, but its not heated. This will be our first summer trying to start a garden and any pointers would be appreciated! Thanks!

Interesting question. I have never tried green chiles. I just order a box from Hatch every year. I have my plan already set for this year, but might try the green chiles next year in the high tunnel.

Well I have not tried either but I lived in NM & COfor several years and used to pick up my chili each year. Both areas of wherethey grow chili get pretty hot in the summer so I would guess that you wouldneed to keep that green house closed up most of the time and try and maintain90degree if possible. With that being said you may also have to self pollinatewith a brush if you canít get the beeís in to do it for you. I would also do a google search on what the optimumtemp for growing chili would be. You mayfind that to be helpful as well.
Good luck with this should be fun
